A Chicago area food service provider was ready to install a new, high performance kitchen flooring system. From an industry installation perspective, kitchens and food processing facilities have one of the most important and challenging flooring systems.
Kitchen and food processing floors must be:
- high traction
- easy to clean
- withstand heavy abuse
- chemical abuse
- low temperatures (freezers/coolers)
- high temperatures (ovens/stoves)
- thermal shock
- mechanical abuse
- bacterial resistant environment
- completely seamless
The product that best fits these performance characteristics is: Urethane Modified Cement Flooring with a troweled vertical cove. Urethane Modified Cement system helps the food service vendor meet all the requirements and have a high performance floor that will exceed any other floor systems in the food processing industry.
Urethane Modified Cement floors are superior to:
- dairy tile
A unique aspect of this flooring project; is that we were able to provide a high performance flooring solution over a substrate rather than on concrete.
Floorcare USA used two layers of ¾” plywood with screws that set every 6” which provided a solid, non-flexing sub-floor.
Floorcare USA then came in and performed a 4” and 6” troweled Urethane Modified Cement Flooring System with an application of ¼” thick Urethane Modified Cement flooring and a top coat of Satin Finish High Traffic System Urethane.
This flooring system will provide the client with a durable, high performing, seamless floor that meets the demanding challenges of kitchen and food processing facilities.
Floorcare USA is based in Waukesha, Wisconsin and has a strong client base in Waukesha, Milwaukee, Madison, Southeastern Wisconsin, Northern Illinois and Chicago.
