Polished Concrete

Floorcare USA of Waukesha, WI polished the concrete at a new office building in Racine, WI.

The concrete in the new office has radiant heat and was integrally colored with Butterfield pigment. The client was looking for an economical, durable floor that matched the aesthetic décor throughout the rest of their building. Polished Concrete is also a very easy and inexpensive flooring system to maintain.

It was determined at the beginning of the project that the client wanted to see aggregate in their polished concrete. Due to the inherent waviness of the concrete, an 1/8’’ of the concrete had to be ground off to maintain a flat floor and to expose medium aggregate. To remove this amount of concrete during the polishing process, Floorcare USA utilized both a wet grinding and dry grinding during the refinement process. Once an 1/8’’ of the concrete was removed, aggregate exposure ranged from class B fine aggregate to class D large aggregate.

After the concrete was ground, it was then progressively polished up to 1500 grit for a high reflective sheen. The floor was sealed with a lithium based densifier and a stain protector. The concrete was then burnished.

Floorcare USA polished the concrete throughout their open office, break room and conference rooms. The aggregate polish turned out not only beautiful but very durable.
